President's Message

Welcome !

Welcome to another year in the history of the Florida Council for Exceptional Children (FCEC) professional organization.  The organization was founded on April5, 1946 at the Florida Education Association meeting held in Tampa, Florida.  During the past 62 years, the organization has grown from seven members to thousands throughout the state.

I am indebted to FCEC for the knowledge foundation and moral support I have enjoyed since becoming a member in 1986 at the University of Arkansas. The professional development and sharing of experiences received over the years have served as “nuggets of gold” to enrich my professional and personal life.

I look forward to serving as the 2008-2009 President of FCEC.  I am excited about the 2008 FCEC annual conference to be held in Sarasota, Florida, and the opportunity to meet you.  Bambi Lockman from Florida DOE will be providing up-to-date information important to all, and Don Deshler who has recently been appointed to the President’s Council on Reading will be sharing current best practices.

You are part of a dedicated and committed group of individuals working to support education for all in the public education system.  I am honored to present the 2008-2009 Board members.  Please feel free to contact any board member, and you may contact me at cec.raney@gmail.com
